The Civic Response on Environment and Development was founded in May 2011 as a non political, non religious and nonprofit making research and advocacy organization. The founding of CRED was informed by the founders desire to establish a credible and vibrant civil society organization that promotes democratization of the decision making process and ensure that policies in the realm of environment and development deliver tangible benefits to the people especially the poor and often marginalized sections of society. CRED is founded on the belief that Uganda’s problems should primarily be the concern of Ugandans themselves who must be empowered and supported to exercise their potential. CRED works with the citizens, local leaders and all national level stakeholders to implement meaningful contribution to the development process. It is the belief of the founders that this effort will promote the livelihoods of the people; enhance democratic values and governance in Uganda.
